from, with and for the community

Who We Are

The ExSJ is an interdisciplinary center within the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineeirng. It engages community collaborators, pro bono professionals, students and faculty  in a reciprocal exchange of knowledge, ideas and skills, toward the co-creation of socio-technical solutions to environmental and social justice challenges.

The ExSJ supports this work by:

  • Engaging participants and the wider USD/San Diego community in regular professional development opportunities like the Monthly ExSJ Lunch and Knowledge Exchange sessions with local and international experts.

  • Supporting the identification of, and the development/implementation of socio-technical solutions, with and for community partners.

  • Fostering a community of practice by connecting, celebrating, nurturing and providing access to resources and opportunities for critical reflection, growth and innovation by all involved.

We invite you to engage in the Exchange
